In a majority of instances, pooling water and saturated soil are the result of poor grading. Even if your property once had perfect slope, the soil filled around your foundation and elsewhere in your yard settles over time. This can lead to pooling and soggy spots in the lawn or water seeping through the foundation walls. Proper grading especially around the house will prevent disastrous problems and costly repairs down the road
